Interior Design Services » Design on a Photo Design on a PhotoTaking the Anxiety Out of Buying Custom Window Treatments And the vocabulary is even worse – valances, cornices, swags, jabots, romans...poofs, puddles, and passementerie...on and on almost endlessly. If only we could see it before we commit to buy it, most of the angst and confusion could be eliminated. How do we resolve this dilemma? Fortunately there is an answer brought to us by a wonderful computer software program. This amazing design tool enables the designer to show you exactly how a proposed window treatment will look, even with your choice of hardware, colors and fabrics, in your own room. How does it work? There are two major ways. First, the program contains an unlimited inventory of window and door types, hundreds of designs, and thousands of design components. Using these, the designer can create a wall elevation with your window type and then add one or more proposed treatment styles for your consideration. And as a final touch, the elevation can be shown with virtually any color or fabric pattern, as well as your chosen paint or wallpaper pattern. But it gets even better! For the most realistic rendering of the proposed treatment, the designer can take a digital photo of the bare window and then, using the software, create the proposed treatment, complete with trim or other embellishments, right on top of the window in the photo. As before, any color or fabric pattern can be applied to the treatment or only to specific parts. The end result with this “design-on a-photo” technique is an actual picture of your room, your furniture, and your accessories (and even sleeping pets or discarded clothing) with the window treatment shown just as it will look in your new room. And with a few clicks of the mouse your designer can also show you various alternatives that will help you to make your choice. This magical software program has brought new meaning to the old adage that “A picture is worth a thousand words”. And Louise Jansen of The Drapery Source is proud to offer this service to her clients in Fairfield and surrounding communities.
